Gwyneth Paltrow: 17 Strict Rules Her Kids Follow
No one is against having a little fun at work, but there's a fine line. What may seem like an innocent prank can turn out to be something offensive. Any prank sounds good in theory, but the execution is another matter entirely. That's true of any prank, but when things go wrong with a prank at your office, there can be serious unintended consequences.
To start, a little flow chart. This should be posted in any office so people can double-check before they hatch a plan that might go awry. The start of any good prank should be whether the victim or, ahem, person, would be amenable to being pranked in the first place, which is especially important in the workplace.
Airhorns have a specific purpose. They are good for sounding alerts in loud places like warehouses, factories, shipyards, etc. They are not ideal for use in enclosed spaces, like, for example, an office. Following our guide, if you think the person wouldn't mind a quick jolt in the middle of the afternoon, go right ahead, if not, better to buy them a coffee instead. Also, don't do it to your boss.
There's nothing worse than coming back from a restful holiday only to find a ton of paperwork on your desk. But, it's not that bad when that paper is toilet paper. It's not the most original prank, which should be grounds for termination on its own, but the fact that a room full of adults resort to such amateurish tactics is still pretty funny.
No one likes to have to go to work, but it happens. As such, don't make a mockery of a space that is sacred. The office washroom should be a private, tranquil space where people can have a few minutes to themselves, away from the stresses of work. Anyone who violates that sanctity should be fired immediately.
Everyone likes to feel like they're in charge of their job or have at least a little authority. But, if you don't, you can still make someone feel like it with a little effort. If only the real Iron Throne came with back support then maybe the people who sat on it wouldn't be so cranky or murderous.
When an airhorn is nowhere to be found, a good jump scare could suffice. All you really need is a cheap, Halloween mask and a silent approach on your unsuspecting co-workers. Just be sure that they are not too easily scared and that they do not have any sharp objects within their reach.
The desk prank is a tried-and-true workplace joke. But these co-workers took it to the next level. While the owner of this desk may appreciate this prank, the person in charge may not. This prank seems like it would take a lot of time and effort. If only you put as much effort into your actual job, is probably what any boss would think before firing you.
We can't see your boss being happy that you brought garbage into the office and spread it all over the place, especially on a co-worker's desk. There should be some precautions taken before this one is executed like an easy cleanup. It must also take a lot of time to gather up that many leaves just to laugh at your co-worker's expense.
Lunchtime is another of those sacrosanct things that people should not mess with. Lunch is the mid-point between the beginning of the day and the end of the day and its arrival is cause for celebration. When you get in the way of that, then you've gone too far and you should start typing up your résumé.
Every office has a rule against letting unauthorized people into the building, something this person obviously overlooked when they decided to let this creeper into the office. There's nothing wrong with friends or family visits but they should stay in the waiting area like everyone else instead of freaking everyone out.
Nicolas Cage didn't get to where he is by playing subdued, subtle characters. His wild facial expressions are the stuff of legend and have made meme-makers very happy over the years. But his wild-eyed mania is best left to the big screen or his many straight-to-video movies, not for the office copier.
Long hours and no sleep can take their toll. And employees who don't get enough rest are not as productive as well-rested employees. It looks like these two took one too many overtime shifts and paid the price for it.
There is nothing "better" than coming to your office table only to see that your seat is gone for good! Oh well, looks like the motto of this fella is "make lemonade, when life offers you lemons".
Your supervisor is always watching you. It's the definition of the word "supervisor". But when they take out the picture in your frame on your desk and put a picture of themselves, it must be a sign that you need to shape up and fly right, as they are taking the extra step of sending you the signal that they're always watching.
Pranks beget pranks. They also beget grudges, again, if the person you pranked did not receive it as well as you thought they would have. But they could have also come up with a prank that goes far and beyond the fun and jovial, into something downright terrifying.
Some bosses are not subtle. Some are maybe a little passive-aggressive. While others are straight-up aggressive. When you go outside and find that your car has been wrapped shut preventing you from leaving that's your boss's way of saying that there's still work to be done.
First of all, wherever you are getting your office furniture, please let us know in the comments. Second, of all, we have to admire the subtlety of this prank that may go unnoticed for a while before it finally hits. And hit it will when you suddenly see a hand thrusting toward you from the ceiling.
Nobody likes messy co-workers. At the same time, no one is expecting to keep your work station spic and span, but leaving open containers of food all over the place so that it festers and stinks is going way too far. That kind of behavior calls for a prank that is both subtle but sends a clear message.
A good prank doesn't need a lot. It needs an element of surprise and maybe a few props. Those props can vary depending on the desired effect. If the desired effect is to surprise, shock and disgust then a few, well-placed fake cockroaches on someone's desk are the perfect recipe.
Some pranks go too far. Then there are pranks that just waste your time, which is, of course, the whole point of the prank. Like that annoying friend who text-bombs you when you don't respond in time, this prank is just being a smartass and doesn't make you laugh so much as just shake your head in disapproval.
A well-thought-out prank is not always the best one. The jump scare factor of any good prank can be enough. But sometimes genuine fright is the result of something this ghastly. Not to mention the fact that someone might take it the wrong way and see it as a message or threat.
First of all, we want to work in an office that has a free M&M dispenser. Second of all, this is just a lazy prank. It doesn't take a lot to put a fake cockroach anywhere, but a good rule of thumb is to never put a fake cockroach near any food item, which will turn any prank into one of pure disgust and sucks all the fun out of it.
Sometimes people get so lost in work that they don't even notice the person staring in at the window. Not that that is a usual occurrence but apparently at this office, people who are lucky to have a window view are also the ones most prone to get pranked by their jealous co-workers.
Some people might take a look at this and think, "aww, that's sweet". Others may look at it and say, "Sweet, I get the day off!". What else is a person to think if the entrance to their cubicle is blocked off with a huge banner not only celebrating their birthday but also says, "under construction".
You can catch a lot of people unawares at an office. People are so used to having everything exactly as they want it that even the slightest disruption can cause chaos. An upside-down monitor is one of those things that is so easy to do and yet can also cause the most damage.
A hallway full of red balloons may tip off the horror fan at your office, so if you must do this prank, make sure the person is not a fan of Stephen King. They will have no idea why there is a trail of solitary red ballons leading to their office, nor will they think twice about their office being illuminated by a red light. But they will of course freak out when they realize Pennywise the Clown is the new HR manager.
A good prank should hopefully put a smile on someone's face. But other times, the prank can go a little deeper and make a snide comment on a co-worker who has a constant sourpuss around the office and maybe needs to lighten up a little. What better way to do that than holding up a mirror to his face.
It's hard to tell if this is a prank or if someone was just super lazy. Either way, it's a sight to see in an office and it's also pretty funny. It makes us wonder what kind of office would let its employees suffer from dehydration and also if this is the water cooler, what does the coffee machine look like?
A lot of offices do things together. They go for walks and challenge each other with weight-loss or other health-related goals. But this is just going too far. When someone needs their 3 pm sugar fix and they don't get it how are they supposed to replace it with carrot sticks, broccoli, and hummus? For shame!
Pity the poor guy who gets launched out of his chair when he sits down on this improvised explosive device. Top marks for originality though, as a less creative person would've just walked up behind this person and blown the airhorn. Where is the pizazz? Where is the creativity in that? This is much more insidious and much funnier.
Which prank did you like the best? Have you ever pranked someone at your office? Let us know in the comments section below. Workplaces don't always have to be serious. They can still be fun, especially when you spend so much time with the same people. Keeping things light at a workplace should be a priority, but like anything else, it should be done in moderation, and within reason so that people don't get the wrong idea.
