Meet Elon Musk's Kids, Ex-Wives & Current Partner
The first ‘American Pie’ film came out almost 22 years ago, and it defined a whole generation. What happened to the cast since they filmed ‘American Wedding’? Alyson Hannigan starred in a major sitcom for many years. Eugene Levy recently won an Emmy. What about the rest? Let’s find out more!
Biggs played the main character in the film: Jim Levenstein. During the first film, he is dealing with typical teenage male hormones and wants to have something with a foreign exchange student named Nadia. Additionally, his father played by Eugene Levy tries to give him the most awkward advice ever. There’s also an iconic scene with an apple pie.
After the first movie, the actor was seen in ‘Boys and Girls’, ‘Loser’, ‘Saving Silverman’, and ‘Anything Else’. He has also appeared in television shows such as ‘Mad Love’, ‘Orange Is the New Black’, ‘I Like You Just the Way I Am’, and others. More recently, Biggs did the voice for Leonardo in Nickelodeon’s ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ between 2012 and 2014.
Hannigan played the role of the annoying band geek, Michelle Flaherty. She ends up going to prom with Jim and reveals that she might not be as geeky as he thought. The actress went on to have a pretty successful career after the franchise. She played Willow Rosenberg on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’.
She also appeared on other television series like ‘Veronica Mars’, ‘King of the Hill’, and ‘The 70’s Show’ before landing one of the main characters on ‘How I Met Your Mother’. Additionally, the actress is married to her co-star Alexis Denisof and had two daughters with him.
Klein played the character of Chris “Oz” Ostreicher, who was the naïve jock and somewhat cooler member of the four main guys in the franchise. Mena Suvari plays his love interest, and they end up falling in love, which somewhat derails “the pact” that the boys had.
After the franchise, the actor starred in movies such as ‘Just Friends’, ‘We Were Soldiers’, and more. You might have also seen him in ‘The Flash’, ‘Wilfred’, ‘TRON: Uprising’, and ‘Welcome to the Captain’. He is best known nowadays for Netflix’s ‘Sweet Magnolias’
Suvari played the role of Heather Gardner in the franchise. She is an innocent girl from the choir that doesn’t want to like the dumb witted jock (Klein) that’s trying to get her attention. After ‘American Pie’, the actress played a big role in the film ‘American Beauty’, for which she received huge praise.
She also starred alongside Jason Biggs once again in ‘Loser’. You might have also seen her in ‘Sugar & Spice’, ‘Rumor has It’, ‘Factory Girl’, and many others. Furthermore, her TV credits include ‘American Horror Story’, ‘Chicago Fire’, ‘American Woman’, and several more.
Nicholas played the role of Kevin Myers, who is the only one in the group of friends with a steady girlfriend. He is somewhat the leader of the gang and wants to take things further with Vicky, played by Tara Reid. Before landing the part in ‘American Pie’, Thomas was a child star from ‘Rookie of the Year’.
After the franchise, the actor went on to star in ‘Party of Five’ as well as several films like ‘The Rules of Attraction’, ‘Stealing Sinatra’, ‘Walt Before Mickey’, and more. His recent work includes ‘Adverse’, ‘Zeroville’, ‘Living Among Us’, and ‘The Lost Tree’. Are you still a fan of this actor?
Reid played Kevin’s girlfriend, Vicky Lathum, in the movie. Her story is about the pressure that some girls have when it comes to going further with their boyfriends. She wants to know if Kevin is with her for more than just intimacy. The actress was one of the most promising rising stars of the late 90s and early 2000s.
You might have seen her in movies such as ‘Josie and the Pussycats’, ‘My Boss’s Daughter’, ‘Van Wilder’, and more. Her television credits include a recurring role on ‘Scrubs’, ‘Taradise’, ‘Untold’, ‘Lemon La Vida Loca’, and even the reality show ‘Marriage Boot Camp: Bridezillas’. She was also in the ‘Sharknado’ TV movie franchise.
Scott played the role of Steve Stifler in the film. He wasn’t part of the main four boys. Instead, he was experienced with girls and loved to party. He was also Oz’s teammate on the lacrosse team. Many parties happened at his house when his mother traveled. The actor became pretty popular for a while after the film was released.
You might remember him best from ‘Old School’, ‘Cop Out’, ‘Role Models’, ‘Road Trip’, ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’, and ‘Dude, Where’s My Car?’ alongside Ashton Kutcher. He was also the voice of Crash in the ‘Ice Age’ franchise. The actor recently starred in ‘Bloodline’ and ‘Already Gone’.
Elizabeth played the role of Nadia, the foreign exchange student that Jim was interested in. She came from former Czechoslovakia and was part of the iconic webcam scene. You might recognize the actress from ‘Scary Movie’ as well as ‘Silent Bob Strikes Back’.
She also appeared in several horror movies such as ‘Thirteen Ghosts’, ‘Jack Frost’, and ‘Night of the Demons’. The actress apparently took a step back from the limelight after appearing on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in 2008. However, she has a non-profit animal rescue in South Africa.
Levy played the role of Jim’s Dad, Mr. Leventstein, in the films. He made every single scene with his son even more awkward than it had to be, and that’s part of what the franchise funnier. The actor has appeared in many films such as ‘Cheaper by the Dozen 2’, ‘A Mighty Wind’, ‘Bringing Down the House’, and more.
He has also been in ‘Josie and the Pussycats’, ‘Best in Show’, and ‘For Your Consideration’. You might have heard his voice in the animated films ‘Finding Dory’ and ‘Over the Ledge’. However, the actor is best known these days as Johnny Rose from ‘Schitt’s Creek’, for which Levy recently won an Emmy.
Lyonne played the role of Jessica, Vicky’s friend, who is much more experienced than her when it comes to boys. She gives Vicky advice about Kevin. Her part was relatively small in the film, but the actress has starred in several other films like ‘Slums of Beverly Hills’, ‘But I’m a Cheerleader’, ‘Scary Movie 2’, ‘Kate & Leopold’, and more.
You might have also seen her in TV shows such as ‘Orange Is the New Black’ and ‘Portlandia’. However, the actress is best recognized for Netflix’s ‘Russian Doll’. Furthermore, Lyonne starred alongside Shia LaBeouf in his autobiographical movie ‘Honey Boy’.
Thomas played the role of Paul Finch, who was the smart guy of the group. Stifler loves to make fun of him, which makes it even more hilarious when Finch has an affair with Stifler’s mother, played by Jennifer Coolidge. The actor continued his career after the franchise ended.
You might have seen him on TV in shows such as ‘Brutally Normal’, ‘Off Centre’, ‘How to Make It in America’, ‘Scorpion’, and ‘American Dad’. His other movie credits include the ‘Harold & Kumar’ franchise, ‘Alex & the List’, ‘Dirty Love’, ‘Stolen Summer’, and more.
Jennifer Coolidge played the infamous role of Stifler’s mom, Jeanine Stifler. She has an affair with Paul Finch and became famous for being the “Mrs. Robinson” of the Millennial era. Additionally, her character was the one called “MILF” in the film by some of the other boys that went to their school.
The actress continued her career and starred in both ‘Legally Blonde’ films, ‘A Cinderella Story’, ‘Soul Men’, ‘Austenland’, ‘Gentleman Broncos’, and many others. She has also appeared on television in shows such as ‘Gravity Falls’, ‘2 Broke Girls’, ‘Glee’, ‘The Closer’, ‘Sex and the City’, ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’, and countless more.
Owen played the role of Chuck Sherman aka The Shermitor, who was even dorkier than the main four guys in the film. He thinks that he has a way with the girls, but that’s not entirely the case until ‘American Pie 2’, where Sherman gets with Nadia. The actor has also been in a couple more roles after the franchise.
The actor was in ‘American Reunion’ and ‘American Pie Presents: Band Camp’. Eugene Levy and Owen are the only actors from the original films to appear in the spin-offs. He has appeared in small roles over the years but was spotted in 2016 working as a waiter. It seems that Owen works in real estate as well.
Cho played an unnamed role. He is one of the partiers that said the phrase “MILF” in the film. The actor might just be the only extra in the movie that made it big. Interestingly, he revealed that his fame for the term “MILF” had been a huge surprise. Cho had been out of the country when the movie was released, but when he came, everyone yelled the acronym at him.
Cho is best recognized, however, for ‘Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle’. He played the role of Hikaru Sulu in ‘Star Trek’ and continued building a pretty successful career in Hollywood. You might have also seen the actor in ‘Columbus’, ‘Searching’, ‘The Grudge’, and others. Additionally, Cho has a band called Viva La Union.
You might not even remember Casey Affleck in this film, but that’s because the actor went uncredited. He played the role of Tom Myers, Kevin’s brother. Tom gives him advice on how to be better with girls by telling him where the “bible” was hidden in the library. His participation is considered more of a cameo.
Casey has already made ‘Good Will Hunting’ and ‘200 Cigarettes’ before his cameo. However, you might know the actor best from films such as ‘Manchester by the Sea’, ‘Gone Baby Gone’, ‘Ocean’s Eleven’, ‘A Ghost Story’, ‘The Assassination of Jesse James’, ‘Interstellar’, and many others.
Pressman played the minor character of Coach Marshall in the first ‘American Pie’ in 1999. However, he was already known for several roles including ‘9 to 5’ and ‘Shaft’. However, the actor is recognized for being in ‘Doogie Howser, M.D.’, ‘Ladies’ Man’, ‘Profiler’, ‘Mulligan’s Stew’, and ‘Hellstrom Chronicle’.
His other movie credits are ‘Making It’, ‘The Hanoi Hilton’, ‘Angus’, ‘The Man in the Glass Booth’, ‘Mighty Joe Young’, ‘Very Bad Things’, ‘The Crazy World of Julius Vrooder’, and countless others. His TV appearances are also varied with ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’, ‘Law & Order’, ‘Matlock’, ‘Dawson’s Creek’, ‘The Drew Carey Moore’, and more.
Might not believe it but Christina Milian was actually in ‘American Pie’. Of course, she was just an extra so it would be crazy hard to spot her. But she was part of the choir at school along with Mena Suvari. Milian went on to become a pretty successful recording artist and continued to act as well.
She released singles such as ‘AM to PM’ and ‘When You Look at Me’, which charted high on Billboard. Her song ‘Dip It Low’ was also a major hit. Milian also appeared in TV shows like ‘Grandfathered’, ‘The Oath’, ‘Soundtrack’, and voiced the character of Esther on ‘Family Guy’.
Finally, another person you might have noticed on ‘American Pie’ is John Cho’s character’s friend. He was also known as “MILF guy” and played by Isfeld. The actor went on to appear in the sequel in 2001 and ‘American Reunion’ in 2012. The actor had gotten a few small roles before this franchise, but it seems that he did not continue his career in Hollywood.
Now that you know where the cast is now, how about some facts about the franchise? ‘American Pie’ is clearly for adult audiences, but it’s actually rated R. It originally had an NC-17 rating, which would make it hard to promote. Therefore, they edited the pie scene in a certain way, and luckily, got an R rating from the MPAA.
Adam Herz actually wrote the first script for the film in just 6 weeks. He used ‘Porky’s’ and ‘Bachelor Party’ as inspiration to create a comedy about teens that are obsessed with girls. It would be interesting to see if they could make a similar movie for today’s world.
The title of this franchise became iconic for a whole generation, but that wasn’t its original name. The screenplay just read “Untitled Teenage Sex Comedy That Can Be Made For Under $10 Million That Most Readers Will Probably Hate But I Think You Will Love”. That’s a mouthful! They later called it “Great Falls” due to the name of the school.
Levy and Biggs had some of the best scenes in the film because they were so awkward and creepy. The reason is that Levy improvised his lines because he did not like how the character had been written. “I wanted the character to be a real dad. Like a real, corny dad who cares about their children. I wanted to be the kind of parent that the kids didn’t want to hang with ... [the original version] was a little creepy. So I made him more square,” the actor said.
Hannigan’s character was known for being pretty annoying and for the phrase: “This one time, at band camp…” Well, the actress continued to talk like Michelle in between scenes. That was probably not great for the rest of the cast, but each actor has their own method.
The franchise is widely known for spreading the infamous phrase, and most fans believe that they coined it. However, that’s not the cast. In 1995, someone on Usenet posted about the acronym on the website. You have to wonder how popular it was at a time where not everyone had internet.
You have already seen how young Cho looked back in 1999, but you might be surprised to learn that he was actually 26 years old at the time. How is that possible? In most teen movies, actors tend to be older but young-looking. Clearly, John Cho knows the secret to immortality because he doesn’t seem to age.
You might remember Blink 182´s special cameo in ‘American Pie’. It happened during the famous webcam scene with Nadia and Jim. At the time, drummer Travis Barker had just replaced Scott Raynor. However, Raynor’s name still appeared on the credits, and Barker was left out.
You might remember that Oz and Stifler were on the lacrosse team at school. However, neither Klein nor Scott knew how to play the game before they started filming. They started practicing for their scenes, but eventually, hired doubles to handle the shots.
It’s interesting to think that a movie like this would never be made today. The humor is outdated and would be considered too offensive, but people can still enjoy it for what it was back then. Let us know which was of these actors played your favorite character. If you liked this article, share it with your friends that grew up with this franchise. See you next time!
